In Burundi, UNICEF has a very diverse portfolio of responsibilities but all with the same objective which is to assist the Government and other stakeholders to fulfill children’s economic, social, cultural, political, and civil rights. The UNICEF country program in Burundi aims to improve the lives of children and women in the following key areas: Child and maternal health, Nutrition, Education, Child Protection, Water, sanitation and hygiene, Social Policy and Advocacy, Adolescent empowerment and community resilience, and Humanitarian response.

Under the supervision and guidance of the Administrative Officer, the Administrative Associate is responsible for executing a broad variety of procedural and specialized administrative tasks for the respective section requiring in-depth knowledge of UNICEF administrative procedures, processes and policies with the following Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

  • Assistance in the Management of Office Premises and Assets
  • Participate in the Management of Admin related Service Contracts and the Petty Cash
  • Assist in the Effective Coordination of Transport Services & Travel
  • Communications & Workflow
  • Calendar/Meetings/Correspondence Management
  • Events/Logistics
  • Budget Preparation and Invoice Processing
  • Attendance

Minimum requirements:

Education: Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the field of work.

Work Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant administrative or clerical work experience is required.

Language Requirements: Fluency in French and working knowledge of English is required.
