The Opportunity:

Embry-Riddle is now hiring an Administrative Assistant for the Department of Humanities and Communication at the Daytona Beach campus. This position will assist the department chair, associate department chair, faculty, and students with various administrative, clerical, technical, and analytical processes. The Administrative Assistant will work cooperatively and independently in a diverse and busy environment that requires positive interaction with faculty, staff, students, and administration.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the associate department chair with managing student enrollments, balancing faculty workloads, assigning classroom locations, schedule planning/coordinating with the office of the registrar, analyzing departmental data, and processing academic integrity violations.
  • Assist with budgeting.
  • Assist faculty and administration with administrative and technical support: prepare/handle/review sensitive and confidential documents; submit documents to the print shop; resolve minor computer and technical problems; process book orders; compile and distribute final exam schedules; order office supplies; manage events; assign offices; and deliver mail.
  • Learn and use work-related technologies: Campus Solutions, SchedulER, ERNIE, Canvas, Turnitin, Workday, Print Shop Web Pro, Axis TV, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office Suite            
  • Manage office supply budget; streamline departmental processes; submit purchase requisitions; assist with departmental advertising; maintain up-to-date phone directories
  • Supervise several student assistants, manage student assistant budget, approve timecards, and perform evaluations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of administrative work experience.
  • Administrative and clerical skills.
  • Technical skills (PC, Microsoft Office, basic hardware/software).
  • Strong interpersonal skills; written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree.
