Job Summary:

The Department of Sociology at the University of San Francisco invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach one or two required or elective courses (in person) in the Spring 2023 semester, contingent upon funding approval.

Full Job Description:

The department seeks candidates from the field of sociology or related sub-disciplines who can teach one or more of the following undergraduate courses: Introduction to Sociology; Asian/Pacific Islanders in U.S. Society; African American Culture and Society; Diversity of American Families; and Feminism and the Body. There may be additional instructional needs in other courses in the future.

Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed. The number of these temporary, part-time, non-tenure track, academic positions vary from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the program. Appointments are offered on a course-by-course basis, and appointment length is based upon course section schedule(s). Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.

Minimum qualifications:

Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field is strongly encouraged. Evidence of teaching experience and effectiveness at the university level and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University are required. The successful candidate must be committed to academic excellence and to fostering an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.
