Adjunct Faculty, School of Nursing


Summary

Barry University’s School of Nursing seeks a dynamic and innovative Adjunct faculty member to join our our interdisciplinary group of healthcare experts. This position is dedicated to our graduate nursing programs, with a focus on our PhD in Nursing. The program aims to prepare the next generation of nursing faculty and scientists, with a research focus toward multicultural health as it applies to clinical practice, education, and health/public policy. Faculty and students engage in both quantitative and qualitative scholarship.

This position is responsible for course instruction in the PhD in Nursing Program.

Essential Functions

  • Teach graduate-level courses in in the discipline and the Program core.

  • Provide dissertation mentorship and advising

  • Engage in Program, College, and University service.

  • Engage in scholarship.

  • Design and prepare experiential learning activities

  • Work with individuals and small groups to provide detailed feedback on performance

  • Assist with development of course assessments and rubrics for evaluating student’s performance.

  • Communicate with students, program faculty and administration regarding course and student’s progress

  • Role model ethical and professional behaviors

  • Perform adjunct faculty related administrative requirements.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • An earned research doctorate in nursing or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Evidence of distinguished teaching, scholarship, service, and student mentorship.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the discovery of knowledge, inclusive community, collaborative service, and social justice.

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an RN in Florida.

  • Current or recent clinical practice experience in the area(s) of teaching responsibility.

  • Teaching experience (classroom, clinical, and/or presentation of continuing education course).

  • Familiarity with distance technologies.

  • Ability to identify performance deficits and unsafe practices of students.
