Job Description
Financial Services seeks an Accounting Specialist to perform a variety of accounting functions requiring initiative and independent judgment in support of the goals and objectives of Financial Services. This position reports directly to the Accounts Payable Manager in Payables & Reimbursements.

The successful candidate will be paid a signing bonus of $750 and a $1,250 bonus after completing six months of employment with the department.

Essential Duties
- Responsible for various accounts payable including the review and approval of department invoices.
- Verify transactions comply with financial policies and procedures.
- Contact various department personnel and vendors to resolve payment and invoice discrepancies or issues.
- Utilize various on-line screens and documents to perform duties.
- Maintain knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping practices and principles.
- Maintain and reconcile accounting and financial records.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Business Administration or related field AND one (1) year of related experience; OR,Three (3) years related accounting experience; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in accounts payable processing including paperless payments.
- Experience in customer service.
- Experience in using data entry to an on-line accounting system.
- Experience with large volume payment processing.
- Experience in maintaining and reconciling accounting and financial records
- Evidence of effective communication skills.
- Experience in using computers.
- Experience managing accounts payables/receivables.
Working Environment
- Work in an office setting and use office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, calculators and telephones.
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time, travel moderate distances to perform work.
- Use computer and use hands/fingers for repetitive motions.
- Communicate to perform essential duties.
- Read-interpret written and oral instructions/directions.
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
