Pay Grade/Pay Range: 55 Hourly (non-exempt) – Minimum – $ 12.88 Midpoint – $ 18.81

Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Job Summary: Under general supervision, performs a variety of specialized or technical accounting support services following established procedures.
Additional Department Summary: This position is responsible for creating and maintaining all vendor information to ensure that University invoices and reimbursements are processed within a timely and accurate manner while adhering to State and Federal rules and regulations as well as University policies and procedures. Responsible for vendor updates including verifying the validity of vendor banking information changes. Ability to analyze banking information provided to make decisions impacting vendor payments in an area prone to fraudulent activity. At the same time, providing assistance regarding W-9 information to ensure the University of Alabama is in compliance with tax laws, and Federal 1099 reporting requirements. Communicates with customers using phone, email, Zoom, Teams, and/or other web-based screen sharing tools.
This position may be eligible for remote work.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR an Associate’s degree and one (1) year of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree with some accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of basic accounting skills and the ability to organize work and time in efficient manner. Proficient computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet applications, personal computing networks and internet software. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and with a diverse population. Must have the ability to work effectively under stress and high levels of activity. Ability to make decisions based on careful analysis and thoughtful judgements. Must have the ability to work effectively under stress and high levels of activity.
Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of 1099 rules and regulations. Accounts Payable experience. Degree in business or accounting related field.
