Description
We are offering a contract to full-time employment opportunity for an Accountant in Birmingham, Alabama. The role involves various accounting duties with a focus on managing receivables and payables, account reconciliation, and serving as a primary resource for accounting discrepancies. This Accountant position offers a hybrid work schedule. Candidates must be commutable to the Birmingham, AL to be considered for this position.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately and efficiently process Direct Bill Reconciliation for processing.
• Manage the receivable and payable processes for assigned markets
• Act as the primary contact for accounting discrepancies between the insurance carrier and agency CSRs.
• Ensure all accounts are reconciled following internal control guidelines, including receiving in commissions and paying the producers in a timely and accurate manner.
• Act as the key resource for resolving accounting discrepancies
• Conduct regular reconciliation of all accounts according to internal control guidelines
• Oversee month-end close processes
• Handle the submission of all vendor payables to Accounts Payable for processing
• Utilize advanced Excel skills to manage large data sets, including use of Pivot tables and VLookup.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Proven experience as a Direct Bill Accountant or similar role
• Proficiency in account reconciliation
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation
• Strong proficiency in Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software
• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
• Strong numerical proficiency and data entry skills
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Continuous learning attitude towards new accounting tools and software
