Position Title ACCOUNTANT
Position Summary Responsible for providing financial accounting, reports, and day-to-day fiscal management for WCMU Public Media. This includes ensuring the station is in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and federal and state accounting-related laws and regulations such as the IRS. Develops accounting-related policies and procedures. Analyzes accounting records, reviewing departmental transactions, and prepares accounting reports.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field or equivalent experience related to the duties of the position.
Three years of experience including planning, supervision, and budget analysis in accounting or finance.
Experience with accounting systems and in-depth experience utilizing excel and other MS Office functions.
Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while working on several projects.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, project a positive image and work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent organizational skills with proven abilities with regard to accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrated effective positive interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage projects to completion within deadlines.
Ability to perform essential functions and requirements of the job.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in finance or business.
Experience with fund accounting.
Experience working in the higher education environment.
Demonstrated ability in ERP system report writing.
Demonstrated knowledge of SAP.
Experience in a supervisory role.
Duties & Responsibilities Monitors, reviews, and analyzes financial data for all transactions.
Reconciles WCMU Public Media accounts monthly.
Researches discrepancies and resolves issues.
Prepares detailed financial statements along with supporting documentation and analysis.
Prepares and provides analysis and reconciliation reports to internal, external independent, state, and federal auditors.
Works with the University departments to ensure grant transactions are properly recorded.
Develops and prepares specialized SAP reports for senior management.
Completes SAP month-end close procedures in the financial system.
Supervises office professional staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
