University Liaison Officer, University of Cambridge

£27,172 pro rata, 0.4FTE (2 days a week)

Responsibilities

  • Liaises with staff from the Federation’s member institutions about students they admit to the BTh and DTM and about teaching and assessment provided for BTh and DTM students.
  • Liaises with the University of Cambridge, in accordance with agreed procedures and disseminating information amongst member institutions, the Bounds House team and university staff.
  • Registers new students admitted to the BTh and DTM correctly on all internal systems and with the University of Cambridge from information received from member institutions.
  • Keeps the Cambridge Virtual Learning Environment up to date including setting up students.
  • Alerts the appropriate Director of Studies at member institutions when markers or moderators have not been assigned for assessments so that they can take action for their students.
  • Accurately records changes to student records including change of programme, status and extensions or concessions granted by Directors of Studies.
  • Provides full, accurate and timely information for meetings including Examination Boards, University Oversight Group meetings, the BTh Management Committee and liaising with external participants such as External Examiners.
  • Acts as the Secretary for the Cambridge Awards Oversight Group, in liaison with the committee’s Chair.
  • Provides full and accurate information required by colleagues in the Federation for regulatory and internal monitoring purposes.
  • Supports others in the central team including the other University Liaison Officers when requested, particularly during holiday and other absences and generally contributing to the effective running of the office, including welcoming visitors.
  • Undertakes any other tasks that might be reasonably asked of you to enable the Federation to operate effectively and for our students to have a high-quality experience.

    Academic Support Officer

    £25,000 pro rata, 0.3FTE (10.5 hours per week)

    Responsibilities

    The academic support officer:

    • Checks and records passport and visa documents for students coming to the Federation from overseas
    • Manages the procurement of office supplies and despatch of Federation office post
    • Oversees the cleaning contract for the office
    • Manages room bookings for external visitors and refreshments for occasional meetings
    • Supports the Office manager in planning and running events for the Federation including the graduation ceremony
    • Occasionally be asked to take minutes and create agendas for internal meetings

    The Academic Support Officer may be called upon to support the Office Manager with other tasks related to the smooth running of the Federation office during busy times.

    In addition to these tasks, the Academic Support Officer will also:

    • Enter data relating to the admission of students and upkeep of student records
    • Support the IT officer with data entry for our statutory reports to HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency)

    An important part of this role is to act as support for other members of the team during busy periods, for example during admissions at the start of the academic year and during the examinations season.
