The International Pharmacy Graduate (IPG) program at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto (U of T) is an academic bridging program that prepares internationally educated pharmacists to meet Canadian entry-to-practice requirements, and develop skills to care for patients as the profession evolves.

The IPG program is committed to ensuring academic excellence in pharmacy education, and providing a supportive learning environment. In addition to covering current and emerging topics in pharmacotherapy, pharmacy practice, and the Canadian healthcare system, learners will also gain critical language, workplace, and patient care skills necessary for licensure in Canada. This program is offered jointly with the School of Continuing Studies.

Working with the Academic Directors and Director, Strategic Initiatives, the Academic Program Manager will coordinate with staff, the School of Continuing Studies, the professional partners and academic faculty to ensure the IPG program is run optimally .

As the Academic Program Manager, you will analyze internal and external trends for the International Pharmacy Graduate (IPG) program and Pharmacy Continuing Education. The incumbent will also recommend educational programming improvements. You will plan components of education programs and coordinate tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives as well as facilitating educational workshops and seminars.

The ideal candidate will develop and implement components of instructional programs while conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning. They will also serve as a resource and advise instructors on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum and evaluation strategies as well as developing resources on educational related matters for instructors, students and subject matter experts.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Analyzing internal and external trends and recommending educational programming improvements
• Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
• Researching and recommending educational technologies and best practices related to teaching and learning
• Planning components of educational programs and/or course design in collaboration with academic leads
• Advising students on program and/or course requirements by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
• Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders
• Producing complex statistical and/or financial reports
• Providing orientation to others on work procedures and practices

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree plus a Post Graduate Certificate in Educational Technologies, Instructional Development, or related field or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in academic program administration within a post-secondary environment.
• Demonstrated experience advising students in an academic setting.
• Experience analyzing and evaluating programs, implementing program improvements and maintaining program standards.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing programs with emerging educational technologies, including developing e-learning modules and online assessments.
• Demonstrated experience in developing automated processes for education content delivery (administrative, grading, learning modules).
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex academic policies and procedures to a variety of complex and/or unusual situations and problems.
• Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail to support day to day program operations and course delivery.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated advanced working knowledge of a wide variety of software, including MS Office 365 Suite, student repository systems (e.g. ACORN/ROSI), learning management systems (e.g. Quercus), and online application systems (e.g., Destiny ONE).
• Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
• Ability to manage multiple and often conflicting priorities.
• Ability to show sound judgement in dealing with confidential information and a keen sensitivity to the personal nature of student issues.
• Proven ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with prospective and current students, staff, faculty and senior administration, the School of Continuing Studies and other units within the University.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:

USW Pay Band 13 — $83,150 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $106,336. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
