JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The College of Education, Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C & I) is searching for an Academic Program Assistant to provide an important role of the C & I World Campus Graduate program daily operations. The role involves working closely with the Director of Graduate Studies, The Graduate School, and the department’s administrative assistant 4. This position works with World Campus Children’s Literature Certificate Program and C&I MEd Program. The successful candidate must learn all the rules and regulations for the University’s Graduate program, attend all World Campus and graduate meetings, and be able to work with and engage in professional conversation with a wide variety of diverse customers, students, faculty, and staff.
This position also acts as back up for Graduate Program in absence of Administrative Support Assistant for Graduate Programs within the department. Back up for coordinating preparation and completion of course packets and textbook orders for all department faculty and graduate students teaching for each semester, assists admin coordinator with course scheduling and creating reports, and coordinates and manages the Student Rating of Teaching Effectiveness (SRTE) for all undergraduate and graduate courses within C&I. This position helps compile and maintain an online collection of syllabi for each course taught within C&I for all semesters and shares copies of syllabi as needed.
Additional work includes enrollment of undergraduate and graduate students for courses, preparing for graduation, reviewing and submitting graduate applications, and all other graduate duties as assigned. This position acts as department scheduler assistant for all courses within C&I and assists the admin coordinator with scheduling and creating reports. The position requires the ability to work independently while representing the graduate program for the department when communicating with current and prospective students.
The position typically requires a High School Diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and effective teamworking skills, along with the ability to work with assigned staff to establish workplace norms of excellence, diversity, and customer service. Facility with Microsoft Office, Excel, and knowledge of University policies and procedures related to the university’s Graduate Program, GRADS, SIMBA, and LionPATH are strongly preferred
