JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Penn State is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and organized individual to serve as an Academic Programs Assistant for our Graduate Program. This position (Administrative Support Assistant 3) will serve as the main point of contact for potential and incoming graduate students for admission-related inquiries and communications.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Admit students in GRADs system.

  • Ensure transcripts and other required documentation are complete.

  • Manage and track all Electrical Engineering Graduate student admissions.

  • Manage Electrical Engineering’s graduate admission cycle process.

  • Advertise and schedule rooms for Comprehensive and Thesis exams.

  • Give access to and track qualifying exams.

  • Schedule and track American English Oral Communicative Proficiency (AEOCPT) tests for teaching assistants.

  • Track Scholarship and Research Integrity (SARI) Requirements for all EE Grad students and communicate with students on progress or deficiencies.

  • Coordinate program-specific SARI seminars.

  • Communicate with the Graduate School and International Student & Scholar Advising (ISSA) as needed.

  • Assist in coordinating EE’s Graduate Student Open House and Graduate Student Orientation.

This position typically requires a High School Diploma or higher plus two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of or the ability to learn Penn State’s systems such as LionPATH, GRADs, O365 Suite, 25LIVE/CollegeNET, SAP/Concur is desired.
