The Department of Family Medicine (https://cumming.ucalgary.ca/departments/family-medicine), in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, invites applications for a Clinician Investigator – Health Services Research, Contingent Term appointment at the Assistant Professor level. Joint appointment may be provided in the Department of Community Health Sciences. (http://www.ucalgary.ca/communityhealthsciences/ ).
Qualifications required include a MD, certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada, eligibility for licensure through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and eligibility for privileges with Alberta Health Services/Primary Care Alberta. A graduate level research degree such as a Master’s degree or PhD is required. Applicants should demonstrate a record of peer reviewed publications in health services research, and external peer-reviewed funding in areas relevant to family medicine and health services research, appropriate for the level of appointment. In terms of education and teaching, applicants must show evidence of successful teaching activity and supervision and/or mentorship of trainees at the undergraduate medical education (UME) and/or postgraduate medical education (PGME) level. Research interests must align with Department of Family Medicine’s strategic plan. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program aligned with the department’s strategic plan and will participate in teaching in the UME and PGME programs. Clinical care will occur in a family medicine education setting and will be approved by the Department Head.
