| Scope of Job | The Department of Family and Community Medicine seeking a full time Physician for a medical school affiliated Family Medicine residency program located in McAllen, Texas. The incumbent must maintain an educational environment conducive to the education of residents in each of the ACGME competencies areas, will oversee and ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education in all sites that participate in the program. Applicant is expected to maintain a clinical practice – both at the residency clinic as well as at a local UTHealth RGV clinic, supervise residents and teach medical students. This position includes supervision of advanced practice providers (includes ANPs) located at UTHealth RGV clinics. Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with academic experience and credentials. |
| Minimum Qualifications | Current Board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine, possess/able to obtain a valid Texas medical license, qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and an appropriate staff appointment. Demonstration of strong commitment to the education of residents and medical students and a comprehensive understanding and ability in educational and evaluation methods. Knowledge of RRC requirements and demonstrated success with outcomes in resident education. Experience in managing diverse relationships and integration activities with medical staff. A strong reputation for sustained inclusive, trust-based physician relations. |

| Preferred Qualifications | A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an academic setting with demonstration of strong leadership skills, outstanding clinical practice, and success in teaching residents and medical students. Bilingual/Medical Spanish is preferred but not required. |

| Additional Information | UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. |
