Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) envisions a world where children are safe, families are strong, and communities are vibrant.LSF is looking for a talented Academic Coordinator who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.Purpose & Impact:Coordinates and manages the academic program including curriculum development, implementation, assessment and outreach.Essential Functions:

  • Ensure Academic programs comply with grants associated with program reporting.
  • Oversee the enrollment of youth in appropriate school and grade level; provide enhancements for the youth to be most successful academically.
  • Maintain student files and create a custom education plan to meet client goals.
  • Develop and implement an individual academic plan for each youth to include supporting documentation.
  • Consult with the client’s 504/IEP team to measure improvements and determine next steps for best outcomes.
  • Provide oversight for staff in the academic program.
  • Work on special projects such as outreach, education or special events with minimal supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Other Functions:

  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit and stand for long periods of time, utilizes telephone, computer, and other office equipment.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to work flexible and weekends.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience:

  • Two years’ experience in working with a diverse youth client base in an organized/structured setting.

Skills:

  • Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail,
  • Must have leadership qualities and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and with minimal supervision (initiative).
  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Initiative and follow through to ensure all assignments are completed.

Other:

  • Ability to successfully pass a Level II background screening and drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for last (2) years.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Reports to Life Skills and Education Supervisor
  • Must be a team player.
  • Accurate, complete and timely submission of required reports and documentation
  • Effective working relationship with clients.
  • Adherence to LSF policies and procedures.
