We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management, and training for wellness professionals. Our programs are hands on, with students and instructors immersed in living classrooms and simulated training.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Associate Dean Health and Public Safety, the Academic Chair Clinical Support Services is responsible for leading the Clinical Support Services portfolio of programs Medical Lab Assistant, Medical Lab Technology and Medical Device Reprocessing Technician staff members and resources associated with the programs.
You are a representative of SAIT management at the program level and portfolio level, managing faculty and staff and will be responsible for hiring, training & development, discipline and termination decisions of assigned staff. This position will also require the incumbent to represent management in responding to grievances and contributing to management bargaining proposals.
Additionally the academic chair role is responsible for working in their portfolio of programs to ensure continuous quality improvement, strategic thinking in working with a variety of partners. This partners include both industry and collaborating with internal partners across the institution. The role also ensures operational excellence in the day to day operations of the programs, responsible for scheduling and loading, maintaining budgets and escalated student issues.
The Role
- Faculty Leadership and Management (40%)
- Attract, recruit, engage and retain the best faculty talent to deliver curriculum through a variety of learning modalities
- Ensure academic excellence (teaching, scholarly activity, pedagogy knowledge, academic support) through coaching, mentoring, and developing instructors
- Provide exceptional leadership to faculty and staff that includes setting meaningful objectives, monitoring progress, and providing feedback and coaching to ensure success
- Develop and maintain a respectful workplace by building an engaged team environment
- Student Success (10%)
- Ensure student success through recruitment, retention and fostering a culture of learning and success
- Product Quality (15%)
- Enhance program Key Performance Indicators as it relates to student satisfaction and graduate employment rates
- Ensure programs and courses are high quality through continuous quality improvement working with a variety of stakeholders to gather, analyze and action feedback
- Industry Relations and Partnerships (15%)
- Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with external stakeholders to ensure program quality, grow WIL opportunities and represent the SAIT brand
- Effectively collaborate and build relationships within CSS portfolio, other schools and across the organization to leverage all resources
- Operational Excellence (20%)
- Manage portfolio in a fiscally responsible manner and ensure financial results are accurately reported, including ensuring accuracy of budgets and forecasts
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree and diploma in allied health or related health care field. Graduate degree in management, education or health is ideal
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in health field. Knowledge and experience as a healthcare or medical professional is critical to the position
- Minimum of three (3) years managerial experience in health or business environment
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience in leading/teaching or curriculum design at a post-secondary level
- Experience in health discipline similar to programming in the portfolio

Salary range: $120,098.48
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
