Job Summary | Deliver individual and group academic advisement to current and prospective PhD and MS graduate students new to UT Arlington. Assists with the planning and delivery of an academic advising initiative, conducts proactive outreach, provides interventions for students with academic early alerts, and lends additional support to students on academic warning/probation. Responsible for facilitating the exchange of academic and technical information. Provide professional advisement to enhance the academic experience, student retention and completion. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities |

Required Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree. Two (2) years of experience working with college students or adolescents in an advising capacity or the equivalent experience. Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working collaboratively with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and experiences. |
Preferred Qualifications | Master’s degree is strongly preferred. Two (2) years of experience as an academic advisor at a public R1 University. Federal, state, and local policies and procedures governing academic advising functions; and resources provided by academic advising associations such as NACADA and TEXAAN. A working knowledge and ability to utilize the University Catalog is essential. Student advocacy; written and verbal interpersonal communication; organizing information and projects; problem solving; adhering to deadlines; taking initiative; student recruitment and outreach; and navigating student information systems.Work professionally, collaboratively, and independently; and proficiently use Microsoft Office Programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint. |
Working Conditions | Standard office setting. Repetitive use of keyboard. Ability to travel to different campus locations. May include remote and virtual academic advising work outside an office. |
