Job Description:

The University of Florida Institute of Agricultural Sciences Range Cattle Research and Education Center is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral position in pasture and rangeland weed management. The Pasture and Rangeland Weed Management program focuses on finding solutions to common and future problematic plant species in sub-tropical and tropical grazing systems.  Strategies to manage plant species include grazing management, crop rotation, mechanical treatment, chemical application, or an integration of these practices.

The main duties associated with this position include (but not limited to):

  • Design and execution of field and greenhouse experiments.
  • Field measurements including herbicide evaluations, plant measurements, and biomass collection.
  • Assist with supervision and mentoring of graduate students, visiting scientists, and interns.
  • Preparation of research and outreach articles and publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals is an important expectation.
  • Contribute to securing extramural grant support.
Expected Salary:

$50,000 

Minimum Requirements:
  • PhD degree in Weed Science, Agronomy, or related field.
  • Experience in experimental design and analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Record of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience in writing proposals and acquiring research funding.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel, work under adverse field conditions, and hold a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with ARM, SigmaPlot and other statistical software, and spray equipment.
  • Ability to drive and operate farm equipment.
