Use validated methods to extract and prepare residue samples for analysis.
Prepare standard solutions and reagents required for analysis.
Analyze samples using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography (GC) with various detection systems, primarily triple quadrupole mass spectrometers.
Perform and document activities in compliance with EPA Good Laboratory Practices and laboratory standard operating procedures.
Evaluate analytical methods and modify as necessary to achieve acceptable method performance.
Optimize analytical instrument parameters to achieve acceptable, reliable performance.
Validate method used for sample analysis.
Review literature for changes/improvements in preparative/analytical procedures.
Operate computer-based automated data collection systems for data acquisition, processing, and quantitation.
Review data and assist with generation of reports.
Assist with photocopying and/or scanning of documents.
Conduct routine instrument cleaning, maintenance, and basic instrument troubleshooting.
General lab maintenance and cleaning.
Participate in required training activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Expected Salary:
$48,000 – $68,000; Commensurate with Experience.
Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field and three years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field and one year of relevant experience; or Doctoral degree in chemistry or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with sample preparation techniques and the use and maintenance of LC/MS/MS instrumentation.
Experience working in a regulatory environment.
Familiarity with standard laboratory concepts, practices, and procedures.
