About the Position:
The Academic Advising Center is the home for Undergraduate General Education Advising and for undeclared students. Our mission is to work in a collaborative partnership with students, a shared responsibility, where the advisor and student are equally invested in the educational process and holistic development of the student. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Assistant Director, College Readiness Programs (Student Services Professional IV). Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Academic Advising, California State University, Fullerton (Cal State Fullerton) seeks a dynamic professional to administer the university’s Early Assessment Program (EAP), Academic Preparation Program (APP), Early Start, and affiliated initiatives to on-and off-campus constituents, including high school counselors, high school English and Math department chairs, and appropriate university faculty and staff partners. Serves as the primary point of internal and external administration and communication of the purpose, value, components and other elements of the Cal State Fullerton EAP and APP within the campus student success vision. 

The Assistant Director, College Readiness Programs is responsible for developing, recommending courses of action, implementing proposed solutions, and coordinating various academic preparation activities and events in secondary schools; coordinating meetings and developing strategies to encourage high schools to identify and inform students of academic preparation; monitoring progress and evaluating educational issues driven by the California State University (CSU) and other state departments and agencies that impact K-12 education; and providing activities, individual and group advising workshops with an emphasis on college readiness in Math and English.

Primary duties include the following: collaborating with Cal State Fullerton faculty, Cal State Fullerton program leaders, and local education agencies in offering professional development opportunities for high school teachers in the areas of English/Language Arts and Mathematics. Liaising with colleges and admissions office to remain up to date on program admissions requirements, processes, and deadlines. Advising prospective applicants regarding Cal State Fullerton undergraduate program admissions requirements. Developing communication protocol with the admissions office to share with prospective Cal State Fullerton EAP, Early Start, and APP program applicants. Designing, planning, and delivering EAP and APP training to relevant campus staff. Coordinating EAP, APP, Early Start-related communication with the appropriate campus departments, serving as Cal State Fullerton’s primary representative to the CSU Chancellor’s Office at system-wide EAP meetings, representing Cal State Fullerton and/or the CSU at professional conferences. Recruiting, hiring and leading student assistant(s) serving as program support staff. Administering and monitoring program budget to ensure that expenditures are appropriate and that the budget is maintained responsibly. Performing special projects as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Academic Advising. Participating in the Academic Advising Team’s regular meetings and general activities as a partner-member to all related professional development. Summer duties involve collaborating with Outreach and Recruitment and direct involvement of the onboarding of new students in academic advising and related capacities. Other duties as assigned.
