Six months fixed term, full time (38 hours per week)

What you will be doing Ngā whāinga matua

You will be providing technical assistance to the berryfruit breeding programme primarly  contributing to the maintenance of plants and assisting with the fruit harvest.  This involves weeding of pots, assisting with potting and propagating plants and harvesting fruit, and collection of data in the laboratory.

What you will bring Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An interest in science. Some experience in fruit tree growing, kiwifruit management and research processes will be an advantage.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including manual work.
  • A reasonable level of fitness is required, including ability to lift large pots.
  • Some extended hours may be required during the harvest season.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft ‘Excel’ and ‘Word’ applications would be an advantage.
  • Full New Zealand drivers licence would be an advantage.
