Job Description:

The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Biological Scientist II to join our dynamic team and lead our exciting laboratory research related to sepsis, infectious diseases, trauma, pediatric health disparities, and other acute care diseases. This thrilling opportunity allows for the opportunity to conduct experiments and lead improvements to existing techniques. As the Biological Scientist II, you get to coordinate research and serve as the liaison between the Principle Investigators (PIs) and the Vice Chair of Research and other important research staff.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Manage the planning, design, modifications, and/or alter experiments on multiple research projects.
  • Perform initial processing and storage of biospecimens from acute care and emergency medicine research studies.
  • Organize and maintain Blood and Tissue Biobanks across several research studies.
  • Coordinates special studies or projects and coordinate activities of all ongoing biomarker assay projects.
  • Collaborate and consult with researchers and other professionals to analyze problems, determine strategies, and recommend solutions.
  • Analyze data and assemble results for scientific publications, grants, and conference presentations.
  • Manage accurate and complete laboratory research with searches for and review of scientific literature relevant to the research focus of the laboratory.

Expected Salary:

 $47,000 – $51,000; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in biology or a closely related field and three years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree in biology or a closely related field and one year of relevant experience; Doctoral degree in biology or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication.

Ability to understand, interpret and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Ability to independently perform various tasks.

Ability to collect and organize data for scientific presentation and publication.

Additional experience in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or a closely related field.
