Role Context and Overview

At Unilever, our sales organization is known as Customer Development (CD). Our CD teams collaborate closely with customers to build categories and implement top-tier retail and shopper strategies. The Internship role serves as the primary entry point for launching a career within Unilever’s CD. This program offers a challenging and rewarding experience, allowing you to contribute to our business goals.

Under the CD umbrella, internship opportunities are available in Customer Business Development (CBD) (e.g., account teams like Walmart, Loblaws, Digital Commerce) or in Customer Strategy and Planning (CSP).

CBD Responsibilities

  • Data Management and Analysis: As a CBD Intern, your responsibilities, determined by the Line Manager, will primarily involve accessing, managing, and analyzing data from Unilever’s internal sources or customer data. This data analysis supports fact-based decision-making.

  • Insight Translation: You’ll help convert insights into actionable business solutions, driving profitable growth.

  • Customer Service: You’ll provide high-level customer service and follow-up to meet the needs of both internal and external customers, interacting with multiple touchpoints.

  • Collaboration: Work with internal and external teams to develop and execute Joint Business Plans with customers, ensuring targets are met.

CSP Responsibilities

  • Data Management and Analysis: As a CSP Intern, your responsibilities, determined by the Line Manager, will primarily involve accessing, managing, and analyzing data.

  • Strategy Implementation: You’ll support the translation of Category Growth Strategies into Channel and Customer plans, focusing on the 6Ps (price, pack, place, promo, proposition, product).

  • Customer and Consumer Advocacy: Act as the internal voice of the customer (e.g., Loblaws, Amazon) and the consumer (the end purchaser).

  • Collaboration: Work closely with CBD and Brand teams to ensure channel and customer insights are integrated into category and brand plans.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Skills and Attributes

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (VLOOKUP, PIVOT TABLE, SUMIF).

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Education: Currently a 3rd or 4th-year student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or 10.0 or higher on a 12.0 scale).

  • Work Environment: Ability to work in-person at our corporate head office (160 Bloor Street East, Toronto, Ontario) for at least 2 full days per week, as determined by the Line Manager. Also capable of working remotely with necessary resources (e.g., WIFI, private workspace).

  • Availability: Able to work Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm EST, without academic conflicts. Available for the full internship duration: April 28th – August 29th, 2025.

  • Eligibility: Eligible to work full-time in Canada.

Recruitment Process

  • The recruitment process begins with a one-on-one interview. This may be followed by a group business case analysis and presentation, as well as an Excel assessment, all conducted virtually.

You’ll have a strong support system, including a dedicated buddy to guide you, a direct line manager, numerous learning opportunities, and access to leadership members. The journey culminates in end-of-term presentations where you can showcase your key moments. While the program is structured to ensure your success, it also offers ample space for you to explore and express your talents and aspirations.
