Job Description:

The Lastinger Center for Learning is an education innovation hub within UF’s College of Education focused on creating equitable education systems that improve teaching and learning across early childhood and K-12 education. Specifically, the Center targets kindergarten readiness, 3rd-grade reading proficiency, and algebra proficiency as critical milestones in children’s educational trajectory that are predictive of success in school and life. The Center works at the nexus of research, practice, and policy to develop sustainable systems that leverage educational technologies and improve the implementation of research-based practices. Housed in one of the nation’s elite public research universities, the Center operates as a dynamic, entrepreneurial workplace focused on executing against UF’s service mission to strengthen the human condition and improve the quality of life.

Creative Leadership & Quality Assurance
● Manages graphics and design initiatives related to marketing/sales, recruitment and Lastinger Center profile.
● Establishes the overall artistic guidelines and quality control standards for the design of publications for sales/marketing, recruitment and Lastinger Center profile.
● Develops and implements successful design strategies for sales/marketing & profile raising, outlining how deliverables will be created and implemented.
● Reviews, develops, modifies, manages center visual identities for communications, marketing and program/project recruitment and other design needs
● Serves as liaison between Lastinger Center and UF Brand Center and external partners on branding and visual identity
● Manages marketing and communications assets, image inventory, design files, collateral
● Provides input to center leadership on policy making, budgeting, and long-term planning for design activities as related to sales/marketing & profile raising

Graphic Design & Production
● Manages design and composition workflow to meet schedules and specify production materials to meet budgets.
● Researches, recommends, and implements production technologies and procedures to increase the effectiveness of design efforts
● Responsible for design and production of collateral including publications and reports, flyers, posters, slide decks, advertising (digital & print), handbooks or other presentation media implementing good design parameters, layout, photo editing, data visualization
● Responsible for corrections and file edits after proofing for editorial and stylistic accuracy

Other duties as assigned
This position may be responsible for hiring and training design staff, for identifying and contracting with freelance resources, and for assigning work on projects.

Hybrid work location policy
Lastinger Center for Learning supports and promotes a healthy work-life balance. To achieve this, the Lastinger Center offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule that aligns with the university’s Flexibility in the Workplace Policy. Allowing employees to stagger arrival and departure times as necessary and to vary the number of workdays in the office so long as an employee’s FTE commitment is fulfilled within the university workweek. This policy also allows for occasional, incidental remote work based on individual circumstances.

Expected Salary:

$65,000-$75,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in graphic design.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in Adobe Products: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Photography
  • Well-versed in ADA, WCAG and 508 standards
  • Video production for social media
  • HTML/CSS, Web Design, Wireframing
  • Canva proficiency
  • Knowledge of design research
  • Tech proficiency: Microsoft (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams), Google Suite (Docs, Forms, Spreadsheets, Slides), Zoom
  • Ability to organize and collaborate on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
