The Globe Institute is part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. The Institute’s main purpose is to address basic scientific questions through interdisciplinary approaches. Job description
The Globe Institute invites applications for an associate professorship in planetary sciences at the Centre for Star and Planet Formation.
The Centre for Star and Planet Formation is a multidisciplinary research centre focused on understanding the formation of planetary systems, including the Solar System, using a multidisciplinary approach that combines astronomy, astrophysics and cosmochemistry. Globe institute is a newly established department at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Globe aims for interdisciplinary research, teaching and outreach and therefore has a strong focus on developing transformative science across our planet’s history.
The candidate is expected to lead original scientific research addressing a broad range of fundamental questions in planetary sciences, including the interior structure of planets orbiting the Sun and other stars, mass-radius relationships of rocky planets and super-Earths as well as the composition of rocky planet atmospheres. An additional focus of the research is aimed at understanding the conditions that promote planetary habitability in our Solar system and beyond, using a multidisciplinary approach to merges various disciplines such as geochemistry, planetary astrophysics and exoplanetary science. In particular, we expect candidates to take full advantage of the broad range of expertise present at StarPlan on theoretical planet formation models and cosmochemical constraints on the formation of minor and major bodies in the Solar System. The candidate will be supported in actively applying to secure external funding to build a research group.

Terms of employment
The position is a permanent position. The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

Application procedure
After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee.
